Have you ever roasted a chicken in your crock pot? So easy, healthier, and convenient! This Slow cooker roasted chicken is just perfect.
This is my first time making slow cooker roasted chicken. For sure it will not be the last.
I had other recipes to post before this one but I figured I bump this slow cooker chicken to the top and share it first. After all, it is a killer easy recipe!
I was really surprised at how easy it was to make this slow cooker roasted chicken. For my first time around I just used dried spices but next time I am going to incorporate some veggies like potatoes and carrots. You can really use any dried spices of your choice, so feel free to get creative with the flavors.
I paired this Slow cooker roasted chicken with some roasted veggies I roasted in the oven but next time I will be adding them to the slow cooker together with the chicken. This way it will be easier.
If you are going to make this there is one little trick some of my facebook followers gave me. Place 4 foil balls under the chicken so that the chicken is above the bottom of the slow cooker and won’t cook with the juices.
Another thing I did was to place the chicken under the broiler for 5 minutes after it was done to get it crispy and browned. You don’t have to do this but it gives the chicken a nice look to it as well!
Next time make this Slow cooker roasted chicken I will get a bigger chicken, the 4.5 lbs was not enough. I think a 6lbs chicken will be way better. After all, there are five people to feed at my home.
Enjoy!
This is the before and after cooking the chicken. Not bad right? I am going to make this recipe from now on any type I need to roast a chicken. It was so so easy!
Use any dried spices of your choice. I use the ones in this picture. You can also see the foil balls I used to make a rack for the chicken to sit above the bottom of the slow cooker.
Miryam's original recipe
Yield: 4 hours
In your 6 quart slow cooker place 4 foil balls in the bottom of the slow cooker creating a foil ball rack. This prevents the chicken to simmer in the juices. Rub the butter all over the chicken and sprinkle the spices of your choice and salt over. If using, drizzle some lemon juice over the chicken and place one half lemon inside the chicken.
Set your slow cooker on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours. My chicken was 4.5 lbs and I cooked it for 4 hours on high. After the 4 hours place the chicken in a roasting pan and place under the broiler for up to 5 minutes to brown the top of the chicken. You can skip this step if you like but it gives the chicken a better finish.
Serve as desired. I did with roasted veggies.
